Construction of a roof terrace
Project Completion 2012: New Quality of Life through Roof Terrace and Renovation Work at the Orphanage in Kabul
In 2012, the association We Help Children in Afghanistan (NGO) successfully completed another important construction project at the orphanage in Kabul. With great commitment and targeted planning, a spacious roof terrace was built on the administration building, which has since served as a protected retreat and meeting place for children and staff. In an environment often characterized by cramped spaces and everyday life, this new open space creates an oasis of peace and relaxation – whether for shared activities, learning in the fresh air, or simply taking a moment to breathe with a view of the city.
At the same time, the structural transition between the main building and the administrative area was comprehensively renovated. Outdated doors and windows were replaced, and the structural fabric at the connecting points was repaired and modernized. This work not only improved energy efficiency but also increased safety and quality of life for all residents of the orphanage.
The completed project is another significant step toward a child-friendly, functional, and dignified living space. It impressively demonstrates how targeted structural measures—supported by donations and the trust of many volunteers—can create sustainable improvements for Afghan orphans.
