To mark his 60th birthday on June 21, 2007, Babrak Wassa, music director (FDB), certified choirmaster, and composer, founded the association "We Help Children in Afghanistan (NGO)" with seven other people, relatives, and friends.
Instead of an elaborate birthday celebration with his eight choirs and other citizens, the funds will directly benefit the goals of the new association. This initiative, supported by press coverage, has now been very well received by the Wassa choirs and beyond.
It will now be particularly important, in addition to recruiting members, to also attract companies and other organizations that will effectively support the association's objectives with their donations.
Since the founding of the association "We Help Children in Afghanistan (NGO)", Mr. Wolfgang Bosbach, Member of the Bundestag for the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and Chairman of the Bundestag's Committee on Internal Affairs, has supported us as patron with advice and support.
It is worth mentioning here that the initiator's wife, Ms. Zainab Wassa, has fully committed herself to this project by assuming the chairmanship of the association.
This also applies for the financial management by Mr. Friedrich Herbst. It is particularly appropriate that the numerous events of the Wassa Choirs be used to promote the goals of our association.
