Extension of the school building

Education is the key to a better future - especially for children who grow up under difficult conditions. For this reason, it was a matter close to the heart of our association We Help Children in Afghanistan (NGO) to expand the school building of the OMAID orphanage in Kabul and thus give more children access to lessons and education.

In 2018, we were able to successfully implement this project: The previously single-story school building was expanded by another floor. The new floor created several additional classrooms, in which significantly more children can now be taught – in a protected, structured, and supportive environment.

The new rooms not only relieve the burden on existing classes, but also enable more differentiated instruction based on age and ability levels for the first time. Children who previously could not obtain a school place due to a lack of space now have the opportunity to attend classes regularly – a crucial step on the path to self-determination, social participation, and future prospects.

In an environment like Kabul, where education is still not a given, every additional classroom is a benefit—not only for the individual child, but for the entire community. The addition of an additional floor to the school building in 2018 was an important milestone in our long-term work on site and demonstrates how targeted investments in infrastructure directly create opportunities.

We thank all supporters who made this project possible. With your help, we don't just provide a roof over people's heads—we provide hope and a future.
